Iran Nonnuclear Sanctions Act of 2017

This bill would impose “harsh financial and economic sanctions countering Iran’s nonnuclear provocations,” according to a 1/24 press release from Rubio’s office. Specifically, it would prescribe requirements for sanctions on Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), Mahan Air, certain Iranian individuals and entities involved in Iranian human rights abuses and its ballistic missile program, as well as persons responsible for the export of “sensitive technology” to Iran. It would also require the president to designate a special coordinator on human rights and democracy in Iran; direct the Treasury to publish an IRGC watch list; and amend existing legislation imposing sanctions on Iran to include consideration for ballistic missile technology; inter alia.
