This bill would condition the president’s authority to continue waiving some of the sanctions against Iran as the P5+1 negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program proceed. Specifically, the president would be required to certify, and recertify every 2 months, that none of the revenues accrued by Iran in connection with the waiver are being used to support any individuals under sanctions for terrorism, as well as Bashar al-Asad’s government in Syria, or any groups designated as foreign terrorist organizations, including specifically Hamas, Hizballah, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
