H.R.6725
Introduced:
September 6, 2018
115
Second
September 6, 2018
Referred to House (sub)committee

This bill would authorize joint U.S.-Israeli research, development, testing, and evaluation activities to establish “directed energy capabilities,” like microwaves and high-powered lasers, for national defense purposes. The secretary of defense would have to reach a memorandum of understanding with the Israeli government and certify to Congress that said memorandum provides for cost-sharing and intellectual property rights before any of the abovementioned activities could begin. The secretary would also be authorized to provide maintenance and sustainment support to Israel for research, development, testing, and evaluation activities related to directed energy capabilities.
