Referred to Senate (sub)committee
Aimed at accelerating ‘the pace of regime transition,’ this bill would impose sanctions on Syria’s petroleum industry and financial sector. It would also require the President to urge the UN Security Council to impose further sanctions restricting the travel of Syrian government officials, banning civilian airline flights to Syria, and restricting the flow of goods into and out of Syria. Finally, the bill would authorize the president to establish a $50 m. Syrian Stabilization Fund to help support opposition groups after regime change in Syria.
