A bill to provide that no funds appropriated or otherwise made available by any Act for contributions for international organizations may be made available to support the United Nations Human Rights Council. An amendment agreed to by voice vote in the Senate Foreign Affairs comm. limited the timeframe of this bill to 2008 and 2009 and granted a presidential waiver. It would reduce the U.S. contribution to the UN by the amount of U.S. funds designated for the HRC, totaling $1.5m per year, or a $3m reduction over the two years.
