This resolution lists assertions of violations of religious freedom in the Middle East including, inter alia, the publishing of anti-Israel and anti-Semitic materials in government controlled media in the Middle East, anti-Semitic remarks by Arab leaders; Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s remarks against Israel and denials of the Holocaust; Iran’s persecution of Baha’is as Israeli spies, an increase in harassment and violence against Christians in Gaza since the Hamas take-over in 2007, and the failure of the Palestinian Authority to stop the same in Bethlehem.
